2 narcotics smugglers arrested along with Kg heroin in Kupwara

Kupwara, Jan 04 (KNS): In yet another action against drug smugglers in the district, Kupwara Police have arrested two persons involved in smuggling of narcotics from Taad area of Karnah. 


In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said acting on a specific information that two persons were likely to smuggle narcotics from Teethwal towards Taad and Tangdhar area, a police naka in presence of Executive Magistrate was established near Bandi Taad by a team of Police led by SHO Police Station Karnah.

The statement reads during the course of naka checking, one Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK09C- 1179 on way from Teethwal towards Taad driven by one Mashkoor Ahmad Malik son of Ali Yar Malik resident of Hajitra Karnah and boarded by another accomplice Amjad Mir son of Mohd Aslam Mir a resident of Bijaldhar Forward Jabdi was intercepted and put to sustained search. 

“During the search of the vehicle, two packets weighing two Kilograms of narcotics apparently looking like heroin were recovered from the vehicle in presence of Executive Magistrate Ist Class Tanghdar.”

It reads the recovered narcotics was sealed on the spot, vehicle was seized and two smugglers were arrested in case FIR number 04/2023 under sections 8/21-29 NDPS Act. 

“The investigations have been taken up to find out other connections in the case,” it reads. (KNS)
