2 forest employees shot at, injured in Pulwama: Police

 Srinagar, July 19 (KNS): Two forest department employees were injured after being shot at by terrorists near Bangender bridge in Rajpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said here on Wednesday.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) a spokesperson said police station Rajpora received an information through reliable source that terrorists had fired upon a team of forest department of district Budgam causing injuries to two employees, who had laid a checkpoint to apprehend timber smugglers near Bangender Bridge.

The statement reads that the injured were immediately evacuated to hospital for the treatment.

They have been identified as Imran Yousaf Wani son of Mohd Yousaf Wani and has been shifted to SHMS Hospital for specialised treatment and Jahangir Ahmed Chechi son of Gh Mohiudin Chechi. Jahangir was discharged as he had minor superficial injuries.

“A case vide FIR No. 79/2023 under sections 16,20 UAP ( Act) , 307  IPC and 7/ 27 IA Act got registered in PS Rajpora and investigation has been initiated,” it reads.

It added that soon after the incident area was cordoned off by Police, Army and CAPFs and intensive search operation was launched.

“During the search of the of the scene of crime, two empty fired cartridges of AK-47 ammunition and one bullet head was recovered from the spot, while search operation is still going on,” it added. (KNS)
