"Including non-locals as voters in J&K is Last Nail In Coffin Of Electoral Democracy"

Srinagar, August 18 (KNS): Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said people of J&K has lost faith in elections and 1987 was the culmination of all the frauds of elections.
"That was the reason peace loving people of J&K were forced to pick up gun.we are still bearing its repercussions," Mufti at a press conference at her Gupkar residence.

Mehbooba Mufti also said that the democratic system is being suppressed in Jammu and Kashmir.

She also added, "The system of democracy in J&K is being suppressed by the central government as new experiments are being done by the central government here for their interest. "All this is being done in the garb of the so-called integration of J&K with India," she said.

Reacting to the statement of Chief Electoral Officer of J&K that every citizen of the country staying in J&K can have voting rights in Assembly elections, mehbooba termed it the last nail in the coffin of electoral democracy and said that she has called national Conference chief Dr Farooq Abdullah to convene an all party meeting to decide the future course of action in this regard.

"BJP is trying to destroy Jammu and Kashmir, but we should unite and save our territory," she said.  A Muslim majority state chose India, they wanted to be part of secular India. But people have lost confidence in voting. Everything happening in BJP's interest,” she added.

She futher said that the central government  has only one objective  to form the government everywhere even by resorting to any fraud method. They want to install a fascist ruler here using a fraud election," she said.(KNS)
