Srinagar, Feb 01 (KNS): Advisor to the Governor Khursheed Ahmad Ganie approved sponsorship to be provided to 1200 Children in the State in a meeting attended by the Secretary to Govt SWD, Dr Farooq Lone and State Mission Director ICPS, G A Sofi.
Under this scheme 1200 Children in the State shall get financial assistance of Rs. 2000 per month as Non institutional care enabling continue family care and also education. The Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) in the Districts shall sanction cases of 58 Children per District after approval from the Selection Cum Oversight Committee (SCOC) headed by Justice Hasnain Masoodi.
The amount of Rs.2000.00 shall be credited to the Bank Account of beneficiary by the concerned District Child Protection Officer (DCPO). The sanction of such Children shall be accorded by CWCs on the recommendations of District Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee (SFCAC) headed by concerned DCPO and after approval of the SCOC. The sponsorship cases shall be sanctioned in accordance with the Guidelines of ICPS and criteria devised by Executive Committee, Jammu & Kashmir State Child Protection Society (JKSCPS).Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe following criteria has been laid down to short list the eligible beneficiaries:
Children who do not have both Parents.
Child whose both the parents are victims of life threatening disease (As mentioned under section (80) DDB of Income Tax Act)
Child whose mother is a widow.
Child whose parents are divorced.
Child who is orphan and is living in an extended family.
Children whose Parents are handicapped due to accident and are unable to take care of the Child.
Children whose parents are incapacitated and unable to take care of the Child.
This component of sponsorship under ICPS will encourage Children to be brought up in proper Family Care without sending such Children to Children Homes. This is an effort towards preventing Children from becoming destitutes, beggars and Child Labourers. The Advisor directed Secretary and State Mission Director ICPS to bring more children under the purview of this scheme in the next financial year. (KNS)
