Anantnag, Jan 5 (KNS): Army Tuesday said that 10 bright girls were shortlisted for admission into the prestigious Army Public School, Beas, under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme.
An army spokesman in a statement to KNS, said that the Army under ‘Project Sadhbhavana’ has been accomplishing the “noble task through Army Goodwill Schools”. “Now a reputed corporate house has joined hands with the Indian Army to sponsor 10 meritorious girl students for education in a renowned school outside the state.”
The spokesman said that the girl students of South Kashmir were put through a tough entrance test which was held under the Army based at Awantipur, and 10 bright girls were shortlisted for admission into the prestigious Army Public School, Beas, under the corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme.
“The girls will be admitted in the current academic session in grades 6th to 8th.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThe corporate house as well as the Army have undertaken the responsibility to educate all of them upto 12th standard,” the spokesman said, adding, “Under this special scheme, all the girl students will be given free uniforms, books, stationary, bedding and food for the entire duration of their education.
“This gesture will not only lessen the burden of the poor families which these girls come from but will also provide them with a platform from where they can be launched into the careers of their choice. Earlier eight boys from South Kashmir had also been sponsored by the Indian Army under a similar scheme.”
He said that it is yet another endeavour by Chinar Corps to enhance the educational facilities for the Awaam of Kashmir. “It is also note worthy that 114 children of South Kashmir were also given scholarships for education within the state for the current academic year.” (KNS)
