Srinagar, May 18 (KNS): Scores of 10+2 lecturers from Kashmir province Thursday staged protest against the government for failing to regularize them from past four years.
The protesters under the banner of All 10+2 Jammu and Kashmir Contractual Lecturers Association, according to KNS correspondent, Manzoor Sheeri assembled at Cariapa Park Baramulla and raise slogans like ‘we want justice’.
The protesting lectures were demanding regularization of their duties.
The protesters while talking to KNS said that despite working in the department with dedication, the contractual teachers are being paid meagre amount of Rs 7000 per month.
President of the contractual lecturers, Gurjeet Singh said, “The lecturers from all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir are on hunger strike from past several days at press club Jammu but the authorities are paying no heed over the demands of the lecturers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
Singh urged Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to look into the matter and fulfil their demands at earliest.
Sajad Ahmad Bhat, a contractual lecturer said that the government made two policies for them but unfortunately not even a single policy was implemented so far.
Bhat said that the lecturers have been left to face hardships as the government has so far failed to fulfil their demands. “We are pleading before government since last four years about our regularization but unfortunately, our pleas went in deaf ears,” he said.
However, the protesting lectures later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
