Anantnag, Apr 24 (KNS): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure (IPS) on Friday said police will use every legal provision to crack down on narcotics-related activities in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, vowing to "change the narrative" of Anantnag, which has been linked to drug supply for years.
"We will use every legal provision to act against drugs and change the narrative of Anantnag," the IPS officer told News Agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).
He said that while maintaining a people-centric approach to address public grievances, the police priorities include law and order, prevention of incidents, and coordination between the administration and the public.
SSP Amod said south Kashmir holds significance in policing, and people are encouraged to approach the police office with their issues, which are addressed within the legal framework.

On the drug menace, he admitted it remains a challenge, and efforts are on to create an environment where people can speak against drugs without fear.
As part of the 'Nasha Mukta J&K' campaign, the SSP said police are registering cases, identifying those involved, attaching properties linked to drug activities, and taking other legal measures. Awareness drives are being carried out in coordination with other departments, social groups, and religious leaders.
"Police will ensure that no innocent person is affected and action will be taken against those found involved," he asserted, adding that all available legal provisions will be exhausted in the process. (KNS)
