Govt can’t suppress us on gunpoint: Spokesperson

Criticizing the administration over continuously placing its Chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah under house arrest, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Saturday said it is a clear proof that authorities are not willing to provide political space to resistance leaders.
The DFP spokesperson while reminding Mufti Sayeed led government of making hue and cry over the same issues during the tenure of his predecessor Omar Abdullah said they (Mufti and his party) used to make noise over curbs on activities of resistance leaders and as such garnered votes by making them election issues.
“Now, as he (Mufti) achieved power, he reneged from all his claims, promises and slogans and couldn’t help himself but follow the footsteps of Omar Abdullah,” he said.
Elaborating, the spokesperson said that after being released in 2011, Shah was placed under house arrest for the period of 23 months 9 days and has been barred from offering 155 Friday and 8 Eid prayers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“During this time, he (Shah) was not allowed to attend programs related to commemoration of martyrs, paying tributes to martyrs and even expressing condolence with the relatives who passed away during these years.”
The spokesperson while terming all such curbs on activities of Shah and other pro-freedom leaders as “unconstitutional” said the democratic claims of India and its local collaborators are nothing but deception. “Despite all this, we’ll not backtrack from our mission and will continue to struggle for our birth right till last breath.”
