Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNS): It doesn’t matter whether you are rich or poor, when it comes to obtain an income certificate from tehsil office Uri.
KNS has conducted an investigation at frontier Tehsil office URI and it was found out that everyone rich or poor can get the income certificate to prove his or her poverty, even if he is a rich. In one such case, an income certificate of one (name withheld), a government employee getting Rs 30,000 as his salary has managed to get an income certificate that shows his monthly income below Rs 3000.
The person has managed to obtain an income certificate by paying a sum of Rs 300 to a clerk and the rest of the work is done.
It is just a tip of an iceberg of such income certificates issued to other rich class. This one revelation is enough to reveal how the things work at Tehsil Office Uri.
Our KNS correspondent told that when he approached the Tehsildar concerned about the matter and showed him how a rich has managed to get an income certificate showing monthly income less than 3000.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The Tehsildar looked at Naib Tehsildar and said he might have done it. I will look into it,” said the KNS correspondent.
On Thursday evening, when KNS contacted Tehsildar Jaffar Hussain admitted that a KNS correspondent had approached his office regarding such issue. “It’s not my signature. Someone has managed to forge stamp of the office. I will now definitely register FIR against the said person,” he said.
Asked why he delayed in registering the complaint and loks curious only nowafter the issue has come into media glare, he said, “I was really busy. Please send me the copy of the certificate. But I don’t have internet here. I will send you the copy of the police complaint early tomorrow (Friday) morning,” he said.
On Friday afternoon, KNS received a copy of the complaint filed by the Tehsildar concerned at Police Station against the said person. However, till late evening the Tehsildar didn't send the FIR copy, if police has registered. (KNS)
