DFP pays tributes to martyrs of Jammu, Chenab

Srinagar, Nov 04 (KNS): Paying tributes to the martyrs of Jammu and Chenab, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Friday said the massacre of hundreds of thousands of Muslims on November 6, 1947 was a 'holocaust'.
In a statement issued to KNS, DFP general secretary Moulana Abdullah Tari said: "On that day, under a planned conspiracy, Muslims were massacred by the communal forces and the pain of that holocaust is still felt by our hearts.”
"During the time of partition, on one hand India occupied the state through military might and on other the communal forces resorted to loot and arson and spread bloodshed in every nook and corner of Jammu Kashmir, to erode its special status."
Moulana said many leaders of that time and their party maintained criminal silence over the massacre which encouraged the killers to commit further killings, loot, and arson. “The very party that supervised the killings of 2008 and 2010 had always been power hungry and that is why it continues to maintain silence over the 1947 massacre,” he said.
He expressed solidarity with the families of the massacre victims saying “we are fully conscious of the sacrifices rendered by the people of Jammu, Pir Panchal, and Chenab Valley and will never leave them alone”. “The sacrifices of the people of Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch, Bhaderwah, Reasi, and Banihal towards the freedom struggle of Jammu Kashmir will be written in golden words,” he said.

"The Muslims and other peace loving communities of Jammu have to follow the mission for which the 1947 martyrs sacrificed their lives. They have to foil the wicked conspiracies of the communal elements,” he added.
Meanwhile, Moulana Tari condemned the continuous police detention of party’s incarcerated chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah saying he (Shah) has spent 30 years of his life in jails. “It seems authorities have decided to never release Shah Sahib,” he said.
Paying tributes to Shabir Ahmad Shah for his steadfastness, Tari said he (Shah) has remained committed on his stand of Azadi and his detention is “undemocratic and unconstitutional”.
“Since Shah was released in 2011, he was mostly put under house arrest and police detention sometimes in Baramulla jail, sometimes in Rajbagh police station. During this period, many of his close relatives passed away but he was not allowed to participate in their last rites. Since 2011, Shah Sahib has spent a total of 3 years and 2 months. He was barred from offering 152 Friday and 9 Eid prayers,” he said.
The DFP general secretary reiterated his appeal to people to follow the protest program issued by the resistance leadership in letter and spirit. (KNS)
