'I may have Corona virus': CRPF sub-Inspector shoots self dead in Anantnag

Srinagar, May 12 (KNS): A sub-inspector of CRPF on Tuesday shot himself dead in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district over fears that he might have contracted the novel Corona virus disease, reports said.
According to reports reached to Kashmir News Service (KNS), CRPF sub-inspector identified as Fatah Singh of 49 Battalion from Jaisalmeer Rajasthan, shot himself with his service riffle in Mattan area.
After hearing gunshot, his colleagues rushed to spot and found Singh in a pool of blood. He was instantly moved to nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
Unconfirmed reports said that the deceased CRPF personal left behind a suicide note in which he expressed fear that he might have been infected with Covid-19.
Police official told KNS that have followed the Covid-19 protocol while dealing with the body of CRPF man. “We took his samples for confirmation and done post mortem which was a legal requirement”, he said and added, “Once results will come, things will be clear”.
Meanwhile CRPF PRO Pankaj Singh confirmed the incident, saying that the sub-inspector had returned to his unit after completing his shift with a Naka party. “So far there is no evidence that he had caught Corona Virus. Let’s wait for the report”, PRO said. (KNS)
