Srinagar, Mar 03 (KNS): An open mic session under ‘Let Me Speak’ tagline was Saturday organized by ‘Captured Illusions’ at Winter Fell café, Dalgate in which scores participants belonging to different age groups participated with great enthusiasm.
The session, as per organizers was meant to provide a platform for young poets, writers and artists to showcase their work.
Speaking about the event, Chief Editor of the Magazine, Mumin Bhat said, “Let Me Speak event was solely organized to provide a platform to budding artists. The event was all about poetry, short story and spoken words. The main aim was to give them (artists) an audience that is actually willing to listen to their crafted words,” he said.
Notably, ‘Captured Illusions’ is a monthly Literary Magazine published from Srinagar, aiming at providing a space to young writers in order to help them in letting their words out.
Managing Editor of the Magazine, Muhammad Nadeem, while giving details about the event said, “The event was organized to convey to masses that Literature still is gracious to be written and presented by the writer to a fellow writer, not on a screen but in reality: face-to-face.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
While stating that the social media is somehow, as he said ‘killing the Literature,’ he said “We need to revive the culture of Book Clubs, Poetry Readings, and Writer Meets, as poetry and art is losing its charm, divinity all because of social media.”
“Good Poetry shouldn't be defined by likes, shares and comments. It should be felt by the soul and heart,” he added.
The participants and those in the audience also seemed to enthusiastic about the event. “Meticulously put forth. Events such as these are hours' need and I look forward to more events being organized,” said Ubaid Majeed, a participant.
“The event is a great platform for showcasing talent of young writers. There is dire need of more such events to be organized in future,” said Rizwan Hamid, a member from audience. (KNS)
