Srinagar, Feb 05 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Monday revealed that the Special Investigation team (SIT) constituted to investigate the attack on Police party in Achabal has filed charge sheet against the accused persons involved in the crime before Sessions Court Anantnag.
According to the statement issued to KNS, the Police spokesman said that in case under FIR NO. 82/2017 under section 302, 397, 326, 427, 120-B RPC, 7/27 Arms Act, 16, 18, 20 UA (P) Act of Police Station Achabal pertaining to attack on SHO Police Station Achabal on 15.06.2017 in which SHO and his five escort personnel lost their lives, a SIT was formed which filed a comprehensive charge sheet against four accused persons before Sessions Court Anantnag.
He said that the special investigation team was constituted by PHQ Jammu and Kashmir Srinagar vide order No 2680/2017 Dated 08.08.2017 in which Tahir Ashraf Bhatti, Superintendent of Police, carried investigation under the close supervision of SSP Anantnag and DIGP SKR Anantnag.
Police spokesman said that during the course of investigation it was establish that PAK based Laskar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants headed by Bashir Lashkeri were involved in the attack. “Further, on the basis of evidences collected during the course of investigation complicity of eight persons was established, of which two persons were arrested in the instant case,” he said.
The persons were identified as Sandeep Kumar, son of Ramesh Kumar, resident of Muzaffer Nagar (UP), Mohd Ashraf Wani @Molvi, son of Gh Nabi Wani, resident of Branti Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani @ Bashir Lashkar, son of Ghulam Ahmad, resident of Soaf Shali Kokernag, Abu Maz, resident of Pakistan, Khurshid Ahmad Ganie, son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Branti Dialgam, Mehraj- ud-din Bangroo @ Asif, son of Sonaullah, resident of Narparastan Fethkadal Srinagar, Sahir Ahmad Makroo, son of Mohd Akram, resident of Arwani Bijbehara and Zeenatull Islam @ Zeenshah @ Alkama, son of Gh Hassan Shah, resident of Malnard Sugan Shopian.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
“During the investigation incontrovertible evidence have been brought on record establishing complicity of above mentioned accused persons in the instant crime,” he said, adding that the main accused in the instant case, i.e, Bashir Lashkari and Pakistani national Abu Maz were killed in an encounter at Branti Batpora on 01.07.2017.
Accused Khurshid Ahmad Ganie, resident of Branti Dialgam, Mehraj- ud-din Bangroo, resident of Narparistan Fethkadal Srinagar, Sahir Ahmad Makroo, resident of Arwani Bijbehara and Zeenatull islam Shah, resident of Malnard Sugan Shopian are absconding in the case.
“The accused persons in the instant case namely Sandeep, Ashraf were arrested and are presently in the judicial custody,” police said, adding that after obtaining sanction of the Government U/S 45 ULA (P) ACT in the instant case, charge sheet has been filed in the court against the accused persons.
Police said that further investigation under section 173 (8) of the code is going on in respect of absconding persons. (KNS)
