State in process of allocating ration online

Srinagar, August 4 (KNS): With a view to make the Public Distribution System more transparent, the state government has completed 98 percent digitisation of Ration Cards and is in a process to of online allocation of ration to customers.
Replying to a question in Lok Sabha today, Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan said J&K was among lead states in implementation of ‘End-to-end Computerisation of TPDS Operations’ scheme, under which Central Government aims to modernise the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS). “Jammu and Kashmir has completed 98 percent of ration card data digitization and is in the progress of online allocation of the ration,” he said.
The minister said the scheme comprises activities, namely, digitization of ration cards/beneficiary and other databases, computerization of supply-chain management, setting up of transparency portals, FPS automation etc.
He added: “So far 24 States have digitized Ration Cards and 13 states have started online foodgrains allocation.”
