"Will challenge Pahari's Reservation Bill in Supreme Court": Adv Anwar Chaudhary

Srinagar, Feb 08 (KNS): Senior Advocate Anwar Chaudhary Thursday said that reservation given to Pahari's by Lok Sabha was absolutely "illegal" and will be challenged in the Supreme Court.

Speaking to media persons at Jammu a day after Lok Sabha passed Constitution (Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Tribes Order (Amendment) Bill 2024, Advocate Anwar Chaudhary termed the bill as "illegal". He said the community will knock the doors of Supreme Court where the bill will be contested.

"The reservation bill for Paharis in Lok Sabha was passed illegally, and it will be contested in Supreme Court," Advocate Anwar Chaudhary held.

He said that from past some time youth belongs to Gujjar and Bakerwal comunity are being harassed in one way or other, and appealed government to stop such practices as it will grow alienation among younger generation of the community. "We appeal to Jammu and Kashmir government to stop harrasing students from Gujjar/Bakerwal comunity. They are not being allowed to pursue education in a smooth manner. They are being harassed repeatedly for no fault of theirs," he said.

While highlighting the miseries of locals of Poonch and Rajouri, he said that authorities have disallowed internet services in twin districts and pushed local population into chaos. They are facing immense hardships in absence of internet. We appeal government to restore the services at the earliest," he added. (KNS)
