Pattan, 18 June (KNS): Notwithstanding' the claims of Government to provide proper publiv health facility and patient care, trauma hospital Pattan in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, is operating without Anaesthetist Consultant from past two months which causes the patients to suffer.
Dr. Mohammad Amin was posted in Taruma Hospital Pattan as Consultant Anaesthetist. However, few months back he superannuated from services, and the post is vacant since then due to which patients are dis-served.
The hospital witness huge rush of patients on regular basis' as it provides several health facilities, but lacks Anaesthesia Consultant.
Social Activist Hamid Rather told news agency KNS, that patients are facing hardships, due to vacant post of Anaesthesia Consultant. It is a shame that people have to ask the administration every time to make doctors available for public. This is not even seen even in tough circumstances in other societies; however it has become a norm in Jammu and Kashmir.
He further said that consultants have been posted to other blocks yesterday by health department in which few blocks are without OT facility and Pattan hospital is treated step-motherly.
Medical officers havin PG degree in Anesthesia from other blocks in Trauma Hospital cannot manage whole work without supervision of consultant.
Sources told KNS, that Block Medical officer Dr Mastoora Akhter has discussed this issue with officials of health department many times but nothing happened
Meanwhile' Hamid urges LG Manoj Sinha, Principal secretary health and Medical Education Manoj kumar Diwadi and Director Health Services Kashmir to fullfill the vacant post as soon as possible so the patients could have a sigh of relief.(KNS)
