Bandipora, October 9 (KNS): An awareness programme titled “Stop Plastic and Start Change” was today organized by the District Administration Bandipora at the Municipal Council Auditorium.
The event was presided over by District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, along with the Executive Officer of the Municipal Council, Bandipora.
Officers from various departments, members of civil society, and students from different educational institutions participated in the programme.

Experts shared valuable insights and suggestions on making Bandipora a polythene-free district and emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens in combating plastic pollution.
They also stressed the importance of protecting the region’s vital water bodies, including Wular Lake—one of Asia’s largest freshwater lakes—from plastic contamination.
Several speakers from civil society underlined the urgent need for scientific and systematic waste management solutions to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.(KNS)
