‎‎Srinagar, Sep 30 (KNS): Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Wednesday welcomed students of Sanctorum School, Sopore, to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and appreciated Sopore MLA Irshad Rasool Kar for facilitating their visit to witness the proceedings of the House.

‎The students watched the Assembly proceedings from the visitors’ gallery, getting a first-hand view of the functioning of the legislature. Sanctorum School is among the institutions from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district whose students have attended a live Assembly session.

‎Sopore MLA Irshad Rasool Kar also informed the House that the school band has been selected to represent Kashmir in New Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day.

‎The Speaker appreciated the achievement and congratulated the students and the school for the opportunity to represent Kashmir at the national-level event.

‎Earlier, Sanctorum School Managing Director Shakir Ashraf had said that exposing students to the functioning of the political system and legislative institutions was important, particularly for those who would become future leaders. The students had also expressed appreciation for the opportunity to observe the proceedings in person.(KNS)
