Langate Nov14 (KNS): An elderly woman was critically injured in horrific bear attack in Kultoora village of North Kashmir's Handwara on Tuesday morning, while three black bears have been trapped Waghat Magam, Kultoora and Drugmulla villages of Kupwara.


An official told KNS that the woman identified as Saeeda Begum wife of Ghulam Mohammad Lone was busy in her kitchen garden when a black bear appeared from the nearby orchards and attacked her.

He said that she was later rescued by family members and bear was chased away. "The woman was rushed to district hospital Handwara for treatment."

The official said that Wildlife department has trapped three black bears in 3 villages of Kupwara. (KNS)
