Bandipora, Dec 03 (KNS): A 35-year-old lady was charred to death in an overnight blaze which destroyed her house also at T.A Shah area of Bandipora district.
An official said that the fire broke out in the double story house of Fayaz Ahmad Khan son of Bashir Ahmad at T.A Shah Bandipora and her was trapped inside and she screamed for help while eighbours attempted to douse the fire but in vain.
"Soon they passed on the information to Fire and Rescue personnel who rushed to the spot and doused the fire, but by the time she was charred to death," he said.
The official identified the deceased as Naseema Begum wife of Fayaz Ahmad Khan Resident of T.A Shah village of Bandipora and said that the house was also demaged in the massive blaze.
Meanwhile, local police has taken cognizance of the incident, adding that the cause of fire is being ascertained, however short-circuit is suspected to have caused the blaze.(KNS)
