Srinagar, Nov 18 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain on Saturday said that recruitment drives by terror groups won’t be allowed to happen as police and other security agencies will fight a decisive war against terror recruitment drives in valley.

Swain who recently took over the reins of Director General of Police (DGP) J&K was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a maiden public grievance meeting which took place at PHQ Peerbagh in Srinagar district.

“We want to make it sure that terror recruitment drives in valley should end. If any youth joins terrorist ranks we will talk to his parents, teacher, principal, imam sahib as there is role of everyone. We can save lives of our youth when there is a community support,” DGP Swain as per KNS said.

He said police and other security agencies do not gauge everyone with the same yardstick. “The handlers sitting across the borders need to be cut off. They use money and other means to incite our youth, so it needs planned and sustained war and we will fight this war to put an end on terror-recruitment drives. We are committed that why a children of poor falls in their trap. We wish our youth should be monitored by their parents, but it needs community effort,” he said.

DGP also said when there will be no recruitment so accordingly it needs no more efforts from the community but I will reiterate it that we will fight a war against terror recruitment drives.

Speaking tough against terror-ecosystem the DGP said that “Those incite youth and supported them by means of arms, money, or luring them will be dealt sternly. Also people who decide to facilitate youth into terror-ranks are equally responsible for encouraging youth into terrorism. Even people who do even write very differently in support of terrorism will face toughest action… We will act tough against such people. Furthermore those hiding behind freedom of expression won’t be allowed in future,” DGP Swain said.
Pertinently an AGMUT 1991 cadre officer, Swain has recently decided to meet people in Srinagar on 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month while as the same meetings will be held in Jammu on 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month. This effort was aimed to listen the grievances of people and resolve them in order to strengthen JKPs public outreach program.
To a query, DGP said that today’s meeting was a new effort. “I was not sure how many people do will visit PHQ along with their grievances. It was an experiment for me. It has a message value and an effort to get connecting with our people. This will have positively concrete result. Few issues are for instant solutions while as few needs to be examined in depth. We will refine this meeting process. We will make it a good grievance redressal camp. Whosoever will visit here, their complaints will be attended and resolved. Whatever we can do we will do….,” DGP said.

On narco-terrorism he said, “Earlier charras was used at local level but today substances like heroine and brown sugar come from across the borders. It is a poison and is intolerable for us,” he said and added, “Whosoever will be found involved even from security departments will be dealt tough. Police will not retreat from taking action if our own cop is found involved. We will act first against those who have made huge wealth, constructed properties, owned cars from this poisonous trade. We will finish this model and will seize the property of not only involved but even their fathers and forefathers,” DGP held. (KNS)
