Widespread rain expected in J&K in next 24 hours: Weather Department

Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNS): The Meteorological Department has forecasted widespread light to moderate rain and thunder in plains and light snowfall over upper reaches in Jammu and Kashmir over the next 24 hours.


An official of the Meteorological Department said that there is a prediction of scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain and thunder over the next two days.

 In the last 24 hours, Srinagar, Qazigund, Pahalgam received traces of rain, while other areas recorded varying amounts of rainfall.

 Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures in most places in Jammu and Kashmir increased and settled above normal, except in a few areas where it dropped. 

For instance, Srinagar recorded a low of 7.9°C, which was 1.8°C above normal, while Jammu recorded a low of 15.1°C, which was 1.5°C below normal. 

Other areas recorded temperatures that were either above or below normal. Ladakh's Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 1.0°C and 2.5°C respectively.(KNS)
