Baramulla, Jun 20 (KNS) ; Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi on Saturday announced that the Board will immediately take up the reconstruction of the shrine sanctum and other pending components of the Hazrat Syed Jaanbaz Wali (RA) Shrine at Khanpora in Baramulla district.
The decision came during an on-site inspection of the ongoing Heritage Restoration and Conservation Project being executed by the Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, J&K.
Official sources said the visit followed multiple representations from local residents and devotees who had flagged concerns over certain important components that were not covered under the current restoration project.
“The matter had been consistently brought to the notice of the Chairperson, seeking her personal intervention for an amicable resolution,” a Waqf Board communique said.

After assessing the site and taking public sentiments into account, Dr Andrabi announced that the reconstruction of the Shrine Sanctum and all left-out components, along with other essential developmental and conservation works, would be undertaken by the Waqf Board. She assured that the work would be carried out while preserving the shrine’s heritage, sanctity, and religious significance.
Local residents and devotees welcomed the announcement, describing it as a timely and sensitive intervention.
Earlier, the Waqf Chairperson chaired a review meeting at the DC Office Baramulla. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Syed Altaf Hussain Musvi, Executive Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer R&B Mohammad Younis Shah, Executive Engineer Waqf Board Er Qazi Mushtaq, and other officials.
