Vice Chancellor's Sports Festival commenced at Faculty of Forestry, SKUAST-K

 Srinagar, Oct 12(KNS): In a spirited commencement, the week-long Vice Chancellor's Sports Festival was inaugurated at the Faculty of Forestry, Benehama, SKUAST-K.

The grand event, which promises a week filled with athletic fervor, was inaugurated by the esteemed Chief Guest, Prof. M.A.A Siddiqui, Director of Education and Dean of Students Welfare at SKUAST-K. Prof. Siddiqui, in his inaugural address, shed light on the pivotal role sports play in the day-to-day well-being of individuals. He emphasized the importance of sports activities for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and underscored their significance in shaping the holistic development of students.

During his address, Prof. Siddiqui also took the opportunity to inform the students about the myriad steps that the university has taken to promote sports activities among its student body. The festival also had the honor of the presence of Prof. S.A Gangoo, the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, who extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and other attendees. Dr. Tahir Mushtaq, Assistant Professor and Students Welfare Officer at the Faculty of Forestry, provided a comprehensive overview of the diverse sports activities slated for the week-long festival. He took a moment to express gratitude towards the Honorable Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Prof. N.A Ganai, and the Dean Students Welfare, Prof. M.A.A Siddiqui, for their unwavering support and encouragement in promoting various student-related activities within the Faculty.

The festival was attended by a distinguished gathering, including the Heads of Divisions of the Faculty including Prof. P.A Khan, Head FBT, Prof. P.A Sofi, Head FPU, Prof. G.M Bhat, Head SAF, Prof. Akhlaq Amin Wani, Head NRM, Dr Khursheed Ahmad, Head WLS, Dr Naseem Geelani, Head SBS, scientists, enthusiastic students and all the participants. The palpable energy in the air reflected the collective excitement and eagerness to engage in these sports activities. As the festival gains momentum, it is expected to not only showcase the athletic prowess of the participants but also instill a sense of discipline, sportsmanship and mutual respect among all involved.
