'Govt should take it up on priority'

Srinagar, April 17(KNS):Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference Senior Vice President and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today demanded immediate shifting of J&K residents who are stranded in different parts of India since the COVID-19 lockdown started. What is more important they had completed and spend more than 20 days in Quarantine. What is the fun of putting poor people and students in trouble, Vakil asked

In a statement issued to KNS, Vakil urged the Lt Governor G C Murmu that the need of the hour is that all the residents of J&K who are stranded in different States and cities of India should be brought back to their home state in view of difficulties and hardships faced by them.

“Most of the stranded residents of J&K especially the students and labourers are running short of resources. Many of them have personally called me over phone from Punjab, Delhi,Jaisalmir Rajasthan and U.P narrating their stories and woes. The same position is of those Kashmiri's who are stranded in Jammu and it is surprising that administration is not making arrangements to send them back to their homes although they have also completed necessary quarantine period. It's not possible for them to continue their stay outside their homes as they are lacking the resources and their families are worried and distressed. Vakil stressed upon the government to take up this issue with the Union govt and other State governments and pursue for immediate return of the stranded people to their homes.

"The JK govt must press in their choppers or other modes of transportation to bring its people back. It should be the priority of the ruling regime, which unfortunately they are giving a deaf ear," Vakil added. (KNS)
