Transport officials intensifies checks to Curb Overloading Concerns

Srinagar, Nov 18(KNS): Responding to growing concerns about overloading in passenger vehicles across the city, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, emphasized the gravity of the issue for both authorities and passengers.

Recognizing the potential compromise in safety and comfort, the RTO highlighted the increased risk of accidents associated with overloading, emphasizing the particular discomfort experienced by female passengers sharing limited space.

Taking a stern stance on the matter, the RTO Kashmir issued directives for officers to intensify inspections, particularly during late evening hours. The focus is on ensuring public transport availability and enforcing penalties for exceeding passenger capacity limits, he said.

The RTO stressed the importance of maintaining public transport availability, especially during late evening hours, connecting various locations, notably Lal Chowk and major hospitals in the city.

"This initiative aims to address the pressing issue of overloading and enhance the overall safety and convenience of passengers," he added.(KNS).
