Bandipora ,July 45 (KNS) : A grand mourning congregation (Majlis-e-Aza) and traditional Alam procession were held today at Tularzoo, Bandipora under the auspices of the Jammu & Kashmir Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian.
Thousands of mourners participated with profound devotion and reverence, paying heartfelt tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala.
The entire area resonated with the spirit of mourning as participants commemorated the unparalleled sacrifices made in defence of truth, justice and human dignity.
Addressing the congregation, Hujjat-ul-Islam Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas Al-Mosavi Al-Safavi, representative of the President of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shian, said that the tragedy of Karbala is not merely a historical event but an eternal school of thought that continues to inspire humanity with the values of divine cognition, justice, freedom, moral consciousness and steadfastness against oppression. He observed that Karbala empowers every generation to distinguish truth from falsehood and to uphold justice in the face of tyranny.
In his detailed address, Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas elaborated on the concepts of divine knowledge (Ma'rifah), faith, Prophethood, Wilayah and the philosophy of Ashura. He stated that the true greatness of a human being lies not in physical existence but in the purity of the heart, the elevation of the soul and the attainment of spiritual knowledge. Describing worldly life as a means rather than an end, he said that attachment to materialism leads to spiritual decline, whereas divine cognition guides humanity towards truth and strengthens faith.
He further said that the Holy Qur'an establishes faith upon the foundation of true recognition and understanding of the truth. Once an individual recognises reality, the heart bears witness to it, enabling believers to attain genuine love for Almighty Allah, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the Ahl al-Bayt (AS).
Describing Muharram as a month of intellectual, moral and spiritual transformation, Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas said that mourning for Imam Hussain (AS) is far more than an emotional expression; it is a profound act of worship rooted in reason, awareness, spirituality and divine understanding. He said that mourning assemblies and tears shed for Imam Hussain (AS) symbolise a believer's commitment to faith, truth and righteousness, while the message of Karbala remains an enduring manifesto of human dignity, courage, honour, freedom and resistance against oppression.
He emphasised that Islamic beliefs are founded upon the finality of the Prophethood of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the perfection of religion, the completion of Divine favour and the institution of Wilayah. Referring to Ashura as the practical continuation of the Declaration of Ghadir, he said that Imam Hussain's (AS) uprising was undertaken solely to preserve the religion of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), safeguard the Prophetic tradition and protect the authentic teachings of Islam. When Muslim society became afflicted by injustice, innovation and deviation from the Prophetic path, Imam Hussain (AS), through his supreme sacrifice, preserved the true spirit of Islam for all generations.
He further stated that Imam Hussain (AS), through the sacrifice of his sacred blood, taught the Muslim Ummah that political authority and truth are not always synonymous. The true criterion for every believer, he said, remains unwavering adherence to the Holy Qur'an, the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the path of truth. Had Karbala not occurred, he observed, the true nature of Yazid's tyranny would never have been fully exposed before the Muslim world.
Recalling the tragic Incident of Harrah, Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas noted that Yazid's brutality later engulfed Madinah as well, further validating the stand taken by Imam Hussain (AS). He said that Karbala awakened the Muslim Ummah to the values of justice, moral awareness and resistance against tyranny principles that continue to illuminate the path of humanity even today.
He also highlighted the profound connection between the message of Ashura and the belief in the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (AJTF), stating that Muharram gatherings and mourning ceremonies are intended not merely to express grief but to nurture intellectual and spiritual development, prepare society for the establishment of Divine justice and cultivate a community ever ready to support the mission of Imam al-Mahdi (AJTF).
Concluding his address, Aga Syed Mujtaba Abbas urged the faithful to make the teachings of Muharram, the spirit of mourning and the message of Ashura an integral part of their daily lives. He called upon believers to strengthen their relationship with divine knowledge, remain steadfast in their love for the Ahl al-Bayt (AS), and follow the path of Imam Hussain (AS), describing it as the surest way to perfect faith, uphold justice and attain success in both this world and the Hereafter.
Special prayers were offered at the conclusion of the mourning congregation for the unity, peace and stability of the Muslim world. Thereafter, the traditional Alam procession proceeded peacefully and in an exemplary atmosphere of discipline and devotion along its designated route before concluding successfully.(KNS)
