Terrorism fight nearing conclusion, focus on lasting peace in J&K: DGP Dilbagh Singh

 Srinagar, Oct 21(KNS): On Police Commemoration Day, the Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbagh Singh, underscored the remarkable strides made in the battle against terrorism, while also stressing the commitment to ensure enduring peace in the Union Territory (UT).

During the commemoration event held at Zewan in Srinagar, DGP Singh acknowledged the long-standing challenge of terrorism that has plagued J&K for over three decades. He noted that the campaign to eradicate terrorism from the soil of Jammu and Kashmir is approaching its conclusion, with a strong commitment to making the current peaceful environment a permanent feature.

DGP acknowledged that despite ongoing attempts to disrupt peace from across the border, the police force is dedicated to thwarting such efforts. He also said that this year, eight policemen, including officers, lost their lives in anti-militancy operations, with some officers from the army and other security forces also making the ultimate sacrifice.

He pointed out the positive transformation in the situation in Kashmir over the past few years, with the region moving towards peace and development. DGP Singh paid heartfelt tributes to the fallen heroes and highlighted that a total of 1606 policemen have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

The DGP stressed the indebtedness of J&K and the entire nation to these brave individuals, affirming the unwavering support of the entire police force for the families of police martyrs. (KNS).
