Tarigami Urges LG's Intervention in Resurfacing of 2010 Sectarian FIR

Srinagar, Dec 13(KNS): CPI(M) leader and former legislator Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Wednesday raised concern over the reopening of an old FIR related to sectarian tensions in Budgam that occurred in 2010.

Tarigami, reminiscing the significant role played by religious leaders and civil society figures in defusing tensions back then, expressed disappointment that legal actions are being initiated after more than two decades.

"In 2010, the concerted efforts of religious leaders and civil society actors played a pivotal role in quelling sectarian tensions in Budgam. Their collaborative approach not only maintained law and order but also fostered communal harmony. Both sects involved exhibited responsible behavior, thwarting the sinister designs of vested interests seeking to disturb the prevailing peace and harmony," he said, adding that It is very unfortunate to learn that after over two decades, some people are summoned to court, raking up an old FIR

Urging intervention, he took to Twitter, requesting the attention of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, stating, "Requesting @OfficeOfLGJandK to intervene and get the FIR withdrawn."(KNS).
