Srinagar, Aug 3 (KNS) National Conference leader and MLA Baramulla, Javid Hassan Baigh, on Monday questioned the constitutional principle of equality, asking whether all citizens are truly treated equally before the law.

"The biggest question that arises is — are all people really equal before the law?" MLA Baigh said while addressing a public gathering here as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).

The event was attended by senior NC leaders including Health and Education Minister Sakina Itoo, Agriculture Minister Javid Ahmad Dar, and Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Sogami.

Drawing a distinction between the policy-makers on stage and the field-level officers in the audience, MLA Baigh said the entire administrative system must be judged by its ability to deliver justice — both at the individual and societal levels.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

"This whole system is meant to achieve two things — whether there is justice in society, and whether that justice is being realised," he asserted.

The MLA further said the state's resources must reach the deserving sections with dignity and respect. "The Social Welfare Minister is present here today. The question is — how can available resources be channelled to the truly deserving people?" he asked.

MLA Baigh said the gathering expects at least three concrete outcomes from the visit of the top leadership, stressing that the administration must work to uphold social dignity and equality for all. (KNS)
