Srinagar, September 7 (KNS): A one-day symposium on the life and literary contributions of noted academic and writer Professor Hamidi Kashmiri will be held at the University of Kashmir on September 9, organisers said.

The symposium, titled “Life and Literary Contributions of Professor Hamidi Kashmiri”, is being organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Urdu Council in collaboration with the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.

The event will begin at 10 am at the Ibn-e-Khaldun Auditorium of the University of Kashmir and will be inaugurated by the university’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Nilofar Khan.

University Registrar Prof Naseer Iqbal will attend the event as the Guest of Honour.

Several literary figures from Kashmir and outside the Valley are scheduled to present papers on Professor Hamidi Kashmiri and his literary and academic contributions, the organisers said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Those scheduled to participate include Prof Mohammad Zaman Azurda, Member of the Sahitya Akademi Urdu Advisory Board Prof Abu Zahir Rabbani, Dr Syed Haseen Ahmad, Deepak Badki, Rukhsana Jabeen, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai, Shahbaz Hakbari, Dr Nusrat Jabeen and Dr Riyaz Tawheedi.

The symposium will conclude with an Urdu mushaira to be presided over by poet Rafiq Raaz.

Poets Satish Vimal, Ashraf Aadil, Dr Shakeel Shifayi and Dr Kausar Rasool will present their poetry during the mushaira.

The welcome address will be delivered by Jammu & Kashmir Urdu Council President Advocate Abdul Rashid Hanjura, the organisers said.(KNS)
