Supreme Court to deliver verdict in Article 370 case on Monday

Srinagar, Dec 07 (KNS): The Supreme Court will deliver its verdicts on Monday whether the move to scrap special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 was unconstitutional.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the 5-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud also comprising Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, and Surya Kant will give the verdict on Monday.

The Centre had scrapped the special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 on August 5, 2019 and divided the erstwhile state into two Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

A batch of petitions challenging the abrogation of Article 370 were filed in the Supreme Court by different parties including National Conference and Peoples Conference.

After hearing the matter for 16 days, the Supreme Court had reserved verdict in the case on September 05. (KNS)
