Stay away from drugs, concentrate on building your future: Former Advisor to LG, Khurshid Ganaie to youth

Anantnag, Aug 21 (KNS): Former Advisor to Lieutenant Governor J&K, Khurshid Ahmad Ganaie Monday urged youth to stay away from drugs and concentrate on building their future.

"Youth are our future. They are tomorrow's doctors, engineers, teachers, officers, politicians etc. They must stay away from drugs and build their future so that our society will have efficient people in coming times," Khurshid Ahmad Ganaie, a former beauracrate spoke to KNS on the sidelines of a one-day workshop on drug de-addiction program held in Akingam village of south Kashmir's Anantnag.

He said youth has prime responsibility on their shoulders as they are leaders of tomorrow. "If our youth will indulge in drugs, then who will be our tomorrow's leader?" he said.

"I spoke to Director Education Kashmir over rising trend of drugs in youth. I requested him to ensure high level vigil in educational institutes and make teachers of High School and Higher Secondary School level as monitors to identify students affected by drugs so that they will utilise their efforts and bring youth indulged in drugs out of this menace. In response Director School Education Kashmir assured and added DSEK has assigned the task to such 100 counselors for making our schools drug-free," he said.

"Besides, police and other law enforcement agencies must take stringent measures to tackle this menace. Stringent acts meant for curbing drug trade should be invoked and involved persons should be brought to justice with exemplary punishment," former IAS officer said. (KNS)
