Jammu, Aug 6 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said his government will continue to press for restoration of statehood to the Union Territory till the demand is met.
"Yes. We will continue our efforts until statehood is restored," CM Omar told reporters as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) after reviewing relief and rehabilitation work in flood-hit Rajouri district.
He was responding to a question whether more steps would be taken after demonstrations were held across Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday seeking restoration of statehood.
Last month, CM Omar and National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah led a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding restoration of statehood and constitutional rights for Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier, the chief minister had said the National Conference (NC) would keep reminding the Centre of its promise and the Supreme Court's direction to restore statehood "at the earliest".
"This was the beginning at Jantar Mantar. We will continue it. The new form and ways of protests will be decided by party president Dr. Farooq Abdullah," he said.
"Not only in J&K, but it will be taken outside too. We will keep reminding the Centre of its promises and hope it will fulfil them by restoring statehood," CM Omar added. (KNS)
