‘Some people who have acted as political chameleons in the past trying to befool people on hollow slogans again’

Srinagar, July 29 (KNS) : Bhartiya Janata Party J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur today said that some people and politicians have once again started playing their politics over petty issues like promising statehood to the people and claiming to be the pioneers of struggle for restoration of statehood to J&K but people know that these political chameleons have done it in the past too for the political gains only. He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah has promised on the floor of the parliament that statehood will be restored to J&K at an appropriate time, where comes the question for launching a struggle and demanding something which is already on cards.

In a statement issued to KNS, Thakur said that some people are making mockery of themselves by claiming to be the champions of struggle for restoration of statehood as they think people of J&K can once again be befooled on mere petty slogans as they had been doing in the past. “But people of J&K have turned mature by all means and understand all the political gimmicks being played by political turncoats who want to secure power by luring people of J&K through false slogans. Let us make it clear that statehood is not to be sought as the Union Govt is committed to announce it at the right time,” he said, and suggested the politicians claiming be frontline warriors for restoration of statehood stop playing politics now.

He said ever since the article 370 was rolled back, the shops of all the politicians have remained shut and they are now trying again to bully people on hollow slogans. “BJP government at the Centre is committed to ensure people of J&K get all the benefits which a citizen of any other state or UT of India is getting. “Kashmir has been peaceful ever since the Article 370 was scrapped and there is no political intervention in jobs, and other developmental projects. Though Covid pandemic has played a spoilsport, UT government under the leadership of LG G C Murmu and all time guidance of Union Government is committed to ensure development of J&K on modern lines and make Srinagar and Jammu as model and state or art smart cities of the UT,” Thakur said.
