Srinagarites praise Rakesh Balwal for his role as SSP Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 20 (KNS): People from several walks of life expressed satisfaction over role of Rakesh Balwal as district police chief Srinagar, and wished him luck for his future assignment.

Balwal, a 2012 batch IPS officer had joined J&K in 2021 and served as SSP Srinagar till date. During his tenure the district witnessed massive change on ground as far as law and order is concerned.

"Rakesh Balwal is beyond a policeman. He treats every citizen with humble and sober behavior that made him an exemplary figure in the society. Being SSP Srinagar, he not only maintained law and order situation in the district, but curbed drug menace and other social evils in the society,” locals said.

They said that he also played a great role in counselling astrayed youth who were indulged in unfair activities.

They added people of the district heaved sigh of relief during his tenure and were comfortable in taking up their issues with the officer. 

The locals wished the officer best of luck for his future assignment.

Balwal was relieved from J&K after his repatriation to his patent cadre Manipur by the Central government last month. 

Home Minister Amit Shah recently honoured SSP Rakesh Balwal with the ‘Excellence in Investigation’ award at a ceremony held in New Delhi. The police officer known for his investigative acumen and calibre received the award at the Anti-terrorism Conference at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. (KNS)
