Srinagar, Aug 7 (KNS): Srinagar Police on Friday claimed to have solved a major theft case with the recovery of stolen property worth around Rs 17.5 lakh and the identification of three accused, including two juveniles.
The case was registered at Rainawari police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint by Mohd Amin Changa, a resident of Changa Mohalla in Mir Behri area, alleging theft at his residence, police said.
During the investigation, police identified Mohd Hussain Latoo, a resident of Akhoon Mohalla, Mir Behri, as the main accused. His alleged involvement in the theft came to light along with that of two associates, both found to be juveniles, they said.
Investigators also found that a part of the stolen cash had been used to purchase three iPhones and a motorcycle worth around Rs 3.5 lakh, all of which were seized, police said.
The recovered property includes gold jewellery, cash, three iPhones, a motorcycle and a wristwatch, with the total value of the recovered articles estimated at around Rs 17.5 lakh.
Police said further investigation is underway and additional recoveries are expected. They reiterated their commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens and appealed to the public to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.(KNS).
