Srinagar Police holds one day Drug de-addiction cum rehabilitation awareness programme in khunmoh

 Srinagar February 28:(KNS) Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday held a day long 'Drug De-Addiction cum rehabilitation awareness in West zone Srinagar. 

 
According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Today West Zone Srinagar, in collaboration with Youth Development and Rehabilitation Centre , J&K Police held a day-long Drug De-addiction-cum-Awareness Programme on illegal drug-use and peddling.
 
The Chief Guest of the event was Superintendent of Police, West Zone Srinagar, Tahir Gillani, who was accompanied by Dr Muzzafar, SDPO Panthachowk DySP Mujahid-ul-haq, SHO Panthachowk Insp Aftab Ahmad Bhat, besides the team of doctors from Police Rehabilitation Centre.
 
At the commencement of the programme, the general public was addressed by the Chief Guest regarding the prevention of drug menace and rehabilitation of those involved in drug use. During his speech, SP West implored upon the stakeholders in the society to come forward in helping police to create awareness about the illegal use of drugs and the measures thereof to prevent this menace. Dr Muzzafar during his address thoroughly briefed the public about the affect of drugs on the health and behaviour of drug addicts. 
The awareness programme was followed by the day long camp established at Gousia Public School, Khunmoh, where a team of doctors from Police Rehabilitation Centre treated volunteers who have been victims of this abuse.
 
It is pertinent to mention here that the general public and specifically the Welfare Committee , Khunmoh extended wholehearted cooperation and people in large numbers attended the Drug De-addiction Centre. People in the area have highly appreciated the role of the police in taking strong action against drug peddlers in the area.(KNS)
