South Kashmir: Another gunfight rages, now in Shopian


Srinagar, June 18 (KNS): Encounter has broke out between government forces and militants in Bandpawa village of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Thursday.

Reports said that a joint team of Police, Army's 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation Bandpawa in the area following the inputs of presence of militants in the area.
An official said soon after the joint team of security forces approached the suspected spot , the militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them the fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants. As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

It to mention that this is the second encounter since morning earlier an encounter broke out in pampore area in which one unidentified militant was killed and the searches were on (KNS)
