Slain BJP leader was a 'nationalist voice' in Kashmir: Former Dy CM

Srinagar, July 09 (KNS): Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta Thursday described the slain BJP leader Wasim Bari a “nationalist voice of Kashmir, who often challenged violence.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Gupta said the killing of Bari will not deter BJP in Valley from promoting nationalism; rather it will strengthen our resolve to fight against militancy.
“Such cowardly act will not deter our cadre in the Valley, but will further strengthen their strong resolve to fight against militancy”, reiterated Gupta. He also questioned the silence by some quarters over such brutal killings. “Their silence only exposes their duplicity. By remaining mum against such cowardly acts of terror, they only encourage anti-national elements”, said Gupta.
Pertinently BJP leader Wasim Bari along with his two family members including father and younger brother were killed on Wednesday late night after unknown militants opened fire at them from point blank range outside. Though the trio had been shifted to nearby medical health centre but all succumbed to their injuries there.
Meanwhile all ten Personal Security Officers (PSOs) guarding the BJP leader were arrested after the attack for dereliction of duty.
Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said the militants opened fire at the victims outside Bari's shop near Bandipora police station around 9 pm.
“The police have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of the law and an investigation is underway”, DGP had said. (KNS)
