Situation normal; neutralised wanted Terrorist in Kokernag encounter: DGP Dilbagh Singh

Reasi, Sept 26 (KNS): Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh, on Tuesday said that the situation in J&K is normal and has not witnessed any change after the Kokernag encounter.

According to the Kashmir News Service (KNS) Correspondent, the DGP said the situation before and after the Kokernag encounter is normal, and there is no need to panic.

He added that security forces track the movement of terrorists in woods and mountain ranges, and J&K Police, along with other security agencies are trying to chase them there.

On the Kokernag encounter, the DGP added, 'We had received intelligence about specific terrorists hidden there; however, in the gun battle, we lost three brave officers and a jawan. We salute these officers and the jawan who took part in the encounter and sacrificed their lives.'"

The DGP also added that during the Kokernag encounter security forces neutralized the most-wanted terrorist who had been active in the area for a very long time.

Responding to a question, DGP also said that J&K Police has intensified its operations against anti-national elements. 'Registration of FIRs has increased, and the toughest actions have been taken against those involved in narco-terrorism,' he added." (KNS)
