The joining ceremony was attended by PDP General Secretaries Adv. Abdul Haq Khan and Mohammad Khursheed Aalam, former Member of Parliament and Chief Spokesperson Dr. Mehboob Beg, former MLA Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, former MLA Noor Mohammad Sheikh, besides senior party functionaries and workers.

 

Welcoming Shoiab Lone into the party, Mehbooba Mufti said his joining would further strengthen the PDP’s organisational structure and reinforce its commitment to safeguarding the rights, dignity and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

She said the PDP, since its inception under the leadership of the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, has remained committed to democratic values, inclusive politics and peaceful engagement, and has consistently stood by the people during the most challenging periods in Jammu and Kashmir’s recent history.

Speaking on the occasion, Shoiab Lone described his decision to join the PDP as a “homecoming.”

 

“My family and my late father shared a long and close political association with the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Sahib. His vision of reconciliation, inclusive governance and people-centric politics left a lasting imprint on Jammu and Kashmir. That vision continues to be carried forward by Mehbooba Mufti with courage and conviction, particularly during one of the most difficult phases in the region’s political history. Returning to the PDP is, therefore, a homecoming for me. I look forward to working under her leadership to strengthen the party and serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
