Security Forces Eliminates 27 Terrorists in 8 Infiltration Attempts This Year So far in Kupwara

Kupwara, Oct 27 (KNS): In the current year so far, there have been a total of 8 infiltration attempts along the Line of Control in Kupwara, resulting in the elimination of 27 terrorists, Army said here on Friday.

GoC 28 Infantry Division Girish Kalia during a press conference, following the foiling of a major infiltration bid in the Machil Sector said that the improved security situation in the region is the result of relentless efforts by security forces.

"Despite continuous attempts to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir from across the border, all such infiltration efforts have been successfully thwarted by security forces. Notably, 10 of these attempts occurred in Kupwara, leading to the elimination of the 27 terrorists," he added.

"In addition to neutralizing the terrorists, significant quantities of warlike materials and narcotics were recovered from the insurgents, further underlining their determination to disturb peace in the valley," he said.

The recent operation in Machil Sector, according to the GoC, serves as a tribute to the dedicated efforts of the infantry in maintaining peace and prosperity in the region.

He said that the Commanding Officer of the Army unit involved, Rajat Birman, highlighted the challenging terrain in the area of operation. "Ambush parties were strategically placed ahead of the LoC fence, and they detected the movement of five terrorists," he added.

"When challenged, two terrorists were immediately neutralized. The operation continued throughout the day, eventually leading to the pinpoint location and elimination of the remaining three terrorists. Importantly, the operation concluded without any casualties on the side of the security forces," he added.(KNS)
