Srinagar, Sep 16 (KNS): A multi-agency anti-terror mock drill was conducted at Veerwan Pandit Colony in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday to assess the preparedness and coordination of security and emergency response agencies in dealing with a simulated terror incident, officials said.
The exercise was held under the overall supervision of the SP Operations, Baramulla, they said.
According to officials, the drill witnessed coordinated participation of SOG Baramulla, SOG Sheeri, Police Stations Baramulla and Sheeri, 53 Battalion CRPF along with its K9 team, 46 Rashtriya Rifles, OCAPS Baramulla, BSF 185 Battalion, Bomb Disposal Squad, Anti-Sabotage Team, Dog Squad, Medical Team, Fire and Emergency Services, GMC Baramulla and SDRF, all operating as per their assigned roles and responsibilities.
"The drill focused on rapid mobilisation, area domination, cordon and search, communication, evacuation, rescue, medical response and inter-agency coordination," a police spokesperson said.

He said the exercise also aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the contingency response mechanism in handling a simulated terror incident.
"The exercise was conducted successfully, enabling participating units to assess their operational preparedness, identify gaps and further strengthen coordinated response capabilities for effectively dealing with any emerging security challenge," the spokesperson said.
Officials said such exercises are part of efforts to keep security agencies operationally ready amid the continuing security challenges in the region. (KNS)
