SDF condemns forces against Muharram mourners, says community leaders couldn’t communicate SOPs


Srinagar, Sep 01 (KNS): Shia Development Foundation (SDF) on Tuesday condemned force used against Muharram mourners in parts of Valley and alleged those held meetings with administration to maintain SOPs while taking processions, have failed to communicate the directions of authorities to the community.
In a statement issued to KNS, SDF President Mohammad Ashraf Khan condemned use of force on Muharram processions.
He said no main leader took part in the mohararam meeting and the meeting was attended by their representatives, The muharram processions are banned since 1999. We question if our processions are banned since long then what for we are going to meet with the administration the leader took people for granted and present public resentment is the outcome of that.
He said the said meeting where Divisional administration invited few community leaders and asked them to adhere upon SOPs while taking out processions should be convened before the month of Muharram.
He also said those who are part and parcel of Muharram processions were not been taken into confidence. (KNS)
