SC verdict on abrogation of Article 370 disappoints people of J&K: Sadhotra

JAMMU DECEMBER 11 (KNS): Expressing disappointment over the Supreme Court verdict on abrogation of Article 370, Former Minister and National Conference Additional General Secretary Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today said the special culture, identity within the domain

of India, culture, and right to jobs and lands will remain a cause of concern for the bonafide residents of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir.

In a statement to KNS, Former Minister said the people of Jammu are particularly concerned and apprehensive about their lands and jobs, the issue they have been flagged vehemently during the past four years. The apex court decision has sent shock waves across the regions, he
added.

Ajay Sadhotra said the people of the erstwhile princely state feel their inclusive culture and identity snatched in the wake of August 5, 2019 political developments that stood testimony to their time tested bonds on unity and harmony. However, such moves by the Centre would further strengthen the resolve of the people to stand united for their just cause, he asserted, adding that they will continue to peacefully struggle for their rights. Former Minister said the National Conference rank and file will stand like rock behind the resolve of the leadership for the long struggle for justice to the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh peacefully as asserted by the party Vice President Mr Omar Abdullah. He exuded confidence about restoration of culture, identity, dignity and honour of the people they enjoyed.

Mr Sadhotra described the Supreme Court observation on holding of elections to the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly by September 2024 as reflection on the BJP's regard for democracy. It is ironical that the country's apex court has to intervene for restoration of democratic rights of the people of the largest democracy in the world, he added.(KNS)
