Saroori seeks LG’s intervention in release of pending wages of SSA, ReT teachers in J&K


Jammu, May 18 (KNS): Seeking personal intervention of Lt Governor Girish Chander Murmu, Former minister and Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), Vice-President, Ghulam Mohammed Saroori has appealed Government to release the pending wages of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and ReT teachers in the Union Territory.
According to statement issued to KNS he said “Belonging to poor background, these SSA teachers and Rehber-e-Taleem (ReT) have been facing hardship due to the non-payment salaries from six months and the ongoing lockdown has made their lives worst,” said Saroori.
In a public statement, Saroori said that as the country is passing though the tough time, these people have become dependent upon others in absence of no wages.
“They do not have anything in pocket to buy essentials for their residences. These people who studied and started serving in rural areas to increase literacy rate. They have huge contribution in the education system. However, the authorities concerned are turned blind eyes towards their suffering of the teachers,” alleged Saroori.
He said that despite being backbone of education system in rural Jammu and Kashmir SSA or ReT teachers allegedly facing negligence from the department at the time of covid19 poor should not be left to face starvation. “The Government should ensure the pending salaries of SSA and ReT teachers are released,” he demanded.
The former minister expressed concern over the lack of vision among the officials in education department who have allegedly discouraged the hard work by not releasing wages since last six months or more of these teachers.(KNS)
