Sadhotra condemns killing of SSP by terrorists, seeks judicial probe in civilian killings in Rajouri

JAMMU DECEMBER 24 (KNS):  National Conference Additional General Secretary and Former Minister Mr Ajay Sadhotra today condemned the most inhuman and barbaric killing of retired Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Mohammad Shaffi Mir by terrorist in the peripheries of Baramulla, saying that the tragedy happening near a place of worship is most unfortunate and highly deplorable.

“My thoughts and condolences go out to the family of the martyr former Police Officer and I pray for peace to the departed soul and strength to his kith, kin and friends to bear this irreparable loss”, Mr Sadhotra said in a statement issued from the Sher-eKashmir Bhawan here. He said Double Engine Sarkar should take effective steps to restore the confidence of the people. By inhuman acts at Baramulla and Rajouri, the confidence of people have been badly shaken. Mr Sadhotra also condemned the killing of three civilians in most tragic circumstances in the Rajouri-Poonch Sector in the aftermath of the terror ambush on an army vehicle, resulting in the martyrdom of four personnel, saying such acts are unacceptable.

In of the gravity of this incident, he sought a judicial probe to ensure an impartial probe into the circumstances leading to these unfortunate deaths. Such a measure is imperative for unearthing the truth, bringing those responsible to justice, and provide some sort solace to the grieving families, he added. Mr Sadhotra said time bound findings will not only address the immediate concerns surrounding this incident but also contribute to rebuilding trust between the people and law enforcement. Principles of justice also demand such a probe, he maintained.

The Additional General Secretary conveyed condolences to the bereaved families, prayed for peace for the noble souls and wished speedy recovery of those injured in the unfortunate incident.(KNS)
