Jammu, Jul 19 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said the administration has been placed on high alert in the wake of a cloudburst in Rajouri district, even as rescue and relief operations continued across the affected areas.

 

LG Sinha told reporters as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) at the Dak Bungalow in Baramulla that multiple government agencies, including the Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, and civil administration, have been pressed into service.

 

“Search and rescue operations are underway on a war footing to trace missing persons and provide immediate assistance to those affected,” the Lt Governor said, adding that officials have been directed to assess the damage and compile casualty figures on priority.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

 

He assured that the government is committed to extending all possible support to the victims and that relief, rehabilitation, and restoration efforts are being expedited.

 

LG Sinha also said the administration is in constant touch with all concerned departments and agencies to ensure a coordinated and effective response to the emergency.

 

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and assured full central assistance in the rescue and relief operations, official sources said. (KNS)
