Rains lash plains, snowfall in higher reaches

 Srinagar, Nov 10(KNS): Higher reaches of Kashmir and Ladakh on Friday experienced a fresh spell of snowfall while the plains received moderate to heavy rains.

The temperature across Kashmir has dropped significantly due to the weather change and the Meteorological Department (MeT) has predicted improvement in weather conditions from tomorrow

The rains started to lash early Friday morning while light snowfall over higher reaches including Gurez, Sonamarg, Gulmarg, Doodpathri and other areas was experienced during the night.

Several roads that connect border towns with respective district headquarters including the Mughal and Gurez road were closed.

Meanwhile, an independent weather forecaster said that more rain and snowfall are predicted during next 10-12hrs over most parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

"During next 10-12hrs heavy snowfall expected over higher reaches while moderate rain showers are expected over most plains," he said.

"Improvement in weather are expected from today evening and there is no forecast of any significant weather till 20th November," he added.(KNS).
